Who We Are
At Rooted Banyan Therapy, we offer compassionate, culturally attuned psychotherapy for individuals navigating life’s complexities. Rooted in the belief that healing happens in connection, our practice is committed to supporting clients with warmth, professionalism, and integrity.
We are a team of Registered Psychotherapists based in Ontario, Canada, governed by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). Our therapists bring lived experience and clinical expertise in working with first-generation individuals, South Asian and BIPOC communities, and those exploring identity, belonging, trauma, and transitions. Whether you are seeking therapy for anxiety, burnout, intergenerational stress, or deeper self-understanding, we offer a safe space for you to be seen, supported, and empowered.

Why Choose Us
At Rooted Banyan Therapy, we bring lived experience and cultural humility to every session. We specialize in supporting first-generation, South Asian, and BIPOC clients through identity exploration, intergenerational dynamics, and healing from systemic stress. We know what it’s like to be misunderstood by therapists who don’t share or understand your culture— you don’t have to explain cultural values, family roles, or expectations here- we get it. Some of the issues we commonly explore include:
- Guilt and fear around setting boundaries with parents, elders, or extended family
- Pressure to succeed — professionally, academically, or relationally — at the cost of your mental health
- Shame and stigma around therapy, mental health, or non-traditional life choices
- Code-switching and shape-shifting to belong in predominantly white or Western spaces
- Feeling caught between cultures — “too much” for one, “not enough” for another
- People-pleasing, over-functioning, and emotional caretaking, especially among women expected to be selfless or “good daughters”
- Exploring gender, sexuality, and queerness in the face of cultural or familial silence
- Unspoken intergenerational trauma — grief, silence, and emotional suppression passed down through family lines
